1. Tweak your tone for every company.
為每家公司調(diào)整措辭。
Dont send generic cover letters that can be used for any job application. You want to make sure that the tone of your letter fits the type of firm youre applying to. Is the company looking for someone with sass or someone more serious? Figure that out on your own, and tailor your letter to what suits the company.
不要發(fā)適合任何職位的通用求職信。你要確保信中的語氣適合你申請(qǐng)的公司的氛圍。公司在找張揚(yáng)還是嚴(yán)肅的人?找出招聘要求,調(diào)整求職信讓它適合每家公司。
2. Make a case.

You wont be able to get to this on your résumé, so be sure to make the case for why youre the right person for the job and why you want to work for the company on your cover letter. A good way to sell yourself is to connect your experiences with the job description. List your skills and experiences that match the type of candidate they are looking to hire.

3. Be different.

Dont repeat everything on your résumé in your cover letter. The letter is your chance to shine and show a bit of your personality. Repeating whats already been said just takes up valuable space.

6. Stick to the right length.

Limit yourself to a page, and try to stick to four paragraphs. The first should comprise an introduction, the position youd like to apply for, and a sentence briefly summarizing why youd like the job and why youre a perfect fit. The next two paragraphs should go on to mention applicable skills and specific achievements that further showcase how qualified you are for the job. You can even use some of the space to explain your suitability if it needs more details, such as why youre changing careers. The last paragraph should be a brief emphasis on why youre excited for the position and a place for you to thank the readers for their time and consideration. You can also make a polite mention of letting them know youll be in touch.

7. Keep it clean.
語句無錯(cuò),前后一致。
Be sure to repeatedly edit your cover letter, and always have at least one other pair of eyes look it over. Check for grammar mistakes, run-on sentences, and spelling errors. Make sure everything is consistent. If you say "I am" in the first sentence, then dont suddenly switch to "Im" in the next.

2. 書寫:求職者常需用親手寫信,字體要寫得清潔可辯,龍飛鳳舞的字跡無疑是自尋絕路。如果可能的話,使用打字機(jī)把信打出來。這樣看起來比較具有商業(yè)氣息。
3. 格式:信文要適當(dāng)?shù)嘏帕性谛偶堉,格式要一致,如采用齊頭式(或斜線式)便需全部一致,不可中途改變

5. 信封:信封上面的地址要完整,稱謂要合時(shí)宜,信紙的折疊要適當(dāng),大小適合信封。
6. 附件:英文求職信函通常不須附加推薦信,除非招聘廣告有此要求。遇到這種情形,只須附上復(fù)印件即可。求職函內(nèi)附加郵票或回址信封,強(qiáng)迫對(duì)方答覆的作法不足效法,除非對(duì)方有此要求。
信函的內(nèi)容
英文求職信函內(nèi)容應(yīng)包括那些?通常根據(jù)所欲謀求的工作性質(zhì)而定。基本上,可以包括下列幾項(xiàng):
1. 寫這封信的目的或動(dòng)機(jī):通常英文求職信都是針對(duì)報(bào)紙上招聘廣告而寫的。若此,信中便須提到何月何日的報(bào)紙,有時(shí)‘工作機(jī)會(huì)‘是從朋友或介紹所(如青輔會(huì)就業(yè)輔導(dǎo)中心)聽來的,有時(shí)是寫信人不知某機(jī)構(gòu)、公司有工作機(jī)會(huì),毛遂自薦而寫的信,不論是哪一種,英文求職信上一定要說明寫信的緣起和目的。
2. 個(gè)人資料:寫信人應(yīng)述明自己的年齡或出生年月,教育背景,尤其是和應(yīng)征的職位有關(guān)的訓(xùn)練或教育科目、工作經(jīng)驗(yàn)或特殊的技能;如無實(shí)際經(jīng)驗(yàn),略述在學(xué)類似經(jīng)驗(yàn)亦可。
3. 備詢?nèi)藛T或推薦人:正常的順序是先獲得這些人同意后再把他們的姓名、地址列入信中,推薦人二至三名即可。
4. 結(jié)尾:英文求職信的結(jié)尾在希望并請(qǐng)求未來的雇主允以面談的機(jī)會(huì),因此,信中要表明可以面談的時(shí)間。使用的句子要有特性、避免軟弱、老生常談的濫調(diào)。
