Task1
Whichof the following activities would you be more interested in doing? Teachingchildren, teaching adults to use computers or cleaning city park.
I'd like to teach children, coz I really liketo be a teacher when I was a little child. In my opinion, teaching children isreally important coz children are the future for a nation. I feel very proud ofmyself to teach them how to behave themselves and I really enjoy being withthem. Their big smiles always cheer meup. What's more, teacher is a decent and stable job. I prefer to spend thesummer and winter vacations to travel around and explore the new world, whichis beneficial to my horizon and teaching.
Task2
Some people prefer takea job with a single task, others prefer to do multiple tasks on a job. Which doyou prefer?
I prefer do the multiple tasks on onejob, compared with taking a single task, doing the multiple tasks is beneficialto a person's growth. For one side, the more tasks you accomplish, the moreknowledge and experience you can obtain. Doing multiple tasks makes it possiblefor you to cultivate your capabilities like communications skills, organizational skills, quick-response skills and management skills. Foranother, doing multiple tasks is really a challenge for many people, which isreally conducive to tap one's potential. In addition, the work efficiency couldbe greatly improved by doing multiple tasks during a certain period of time.
Task3
Theschool plans to start a student art club so that students can learn about artand still pursue their major, and the club will offer affordable museum ticketsfor students to see art.
Theman in the conversation agrees.
First,he really loved art in high school, but now he majors in chemistry and doesn’thave time for art. The new art club would be a good chance for him to pursueart and he doesn’t have to worry about how it would affect his major because hedoesn’t need to go to an actual class and get credits.
Second, the museum is too expensive for many students to go to, so this would be a goodchance for them to enjoy art they could not see before.
Task4
Theprofessor talks about logical consequences which means teachers use logicalconsequences to link students’ wrong behavior with its negative consequences tocorrect it.
Inthe example, when the professor was teaching little kids, sometimes he wouldlet them use pens to paint. A girl called Mary would paint on the desk anddamage the facilities. He first punished her by not allowing her to playoutside with other kids, but it didn’t work. Mary painted on the desk again. This time the professor warned her that if she didn’t stop the behavior, hewould not let her paint next time. So Mary corrected her wrong behaviorafterwards.
Task5
Theman’s problem is that he’s moving into a new apartment and needs to move hisold stuff to the new apartment, and he’s thinking about how.
Thefirst solution is that he can rent a truck, but the small trucks are all rentedout, and big trucks are expensive.
Thesecond solution is he can borrow his friend’s car, but it’s kind of small andhe’ll have to go back and forth a few times.
Task6
Theprofessor talks about two challenges fish meet in fast currents and how theydeal with the challenges.
Thefirst is that they can’t stay at one place because of the fast current. Tosolve this problem, catfish have big and muscular fin which enable them to swimagainst the currents.
Thesecond is that it’s hard to catch in the fast currents. The professor talksabout trouts in this example. The water in the middle of the river runs thefastest, so there’s rarely food there; but on the banks the water runs slow andso there’s food, and therefore trouts usually stay near the bank to catch food.
