My desired work place is ShenZhen, I'm going to join ShenZhen University to be a professor in Electric Engineering.
15) Give me three reasons that you will come back to China?
First of all, I'm the only child of my parents. I have to come back and take care of my parents since they will become older and weaker as time goes by. The attachment to family is very strong for our Chinese people. Secondly, as you can see, I applied for a PH.D program instead of M.S. program. As far as I know, and probably as you know, Ph.D holders in the States are not so easy to find good jobs as Ms holders even in the same discipline. If I intended to find a job and stay in the states, I would not have applied for Ph.D. but MS program. And Ph.D will take much more time, without the real interest, who would pay so much time and energy to chase a Ph.D degree? Finally, it will be very easy for me to find a good job in any of the big cities in china with my Ph.D in Electric Engineering got in the United States. My career objective determines that it is a better choice for me to come back to China than staying in the states. You see my long range objective is to become a professor and it would be very difficult for me to realize it should I choose to stay in the states, for the United States is a highly developed county, the competition to get a position in University is too fierce. On the contrary, if I come back to china, I have much better opportunity. Since china is underdeveloped, it leaves much more space for people, so it is much more practical for me to get a teaching position in a Chinese University.
16) Can you explain why 90% Chinese students didn't come back?
I think that is partly because they were afraid that they would not be treated fairly after they come back. As a matter of fact, that used to be the reality. But things has been changing greatly during recent years and much more students are coming back after they have finished their study. I also think this has something to do with the majors. As for students majoring in science, they may like the better equipment, environment and salary in the states because they are afraid that if they are back some of their research can not go on as a result of poor facility and shortage of funding. But as for my major, it will be very easy for me to find a good job in any of the big cities in china with my Ph.D in Electric Engineering got in the United States. You see, it is a practical major. My career objective also determines that it is a better choice for me to come back to China than staying in the states. You see my long range objective is to become a professor and it would be very difficult for me to realize it should I choose to stay in the states, for the United States is a highly developed county, the competition to get a position in University is too fierce. On the contrary, if I come back to china, I have much better opportunities. Since china is underdeveloped, it leaves much more space for people, so it is much more practical for me to get a teaching position in a Chinese University.
17) Why do you choose this Univ.?
First of all, the Electric Engineering program of Auburn University is among the top Ph.D programs in the states, and in my proposed research field-image processing, there are 7 professors in Electric Engineering Department in Auburn University. And also I like the weather of Auburn, just similar to the weather of GuangZhou. Another reason is that I got the admission from Auburn University very early-in early October. And I accepted this admission before November 1st.
18) Why do you like your major?
I believe Electric Engineering is promising in china. As for my major, it will be very easy for me to find a good job in any of the big cities in china with my Ph.D got in the United States. You see, it is a practical major. My long range objective is to become a professor and it would be very difficult for me to realize it should I choose to stay in the states, for the United States is a highly developed county, the competition to get a position in University is too fierce. On the contrary, if I come back to china, I have much better opportunities. Since china is underdeveloped, it leaves much more space for people, so it is much more practical for me to get a teaching position in a Chinese University.
19) Why do you want to study in USA?
I believe Electric Engineering is a promising major currently in China. The United States offers the best education in this field. The professors in the states have deeper knowledge in this science, while the research in China trying to understand one technology in Electric Science, the professors in the states are able to create more original theories. So to have my Ph.D education in the USA is a reasonable and wise decision.
20) Why do you want to pursue a doctor's degree?
As for my major, it will be very easy for me to find a good job in china with my Ph.D degree in Electric Engineering got in the United States. You see, it is a practical major. My long range objective is to become a professor and I think a Ph.D is necessary for me to realize my career objective.I don't want to stop someday on my half way toward success to resume my study as a result of lacking of knowledge. So I need a Ph.D degree in this field.
21) What is the most difficult class do you have?
Probably algorithm. It is a course about advanced calculating and requires high technique in both computer programming and mathematics.
22) Have you assigned any tutor?
My tutor has not been determined, the university let me decide who I will follow within one year after my arrival in the campus.
23) What's the difference between your major now and the major in USA?
They belongs to the same field. My undergraduate study and graduate study are mathematics and computer engineering. The major I'm going to study in Auburn University is Electric and Computer Engineering. The only difference is that what I'm going to study is more detailed and much deeper in this filed.
