在國外，老師留的作業(yè)既可以叫作homework，也可以叫作assignment。很多學(xué)生會(huì)說“I have a huge assignment to do this weekend.”我這個(gè)周末有一個(gè)很大的功課要做。

很多大學(xué)都會(huì)給學(xué)生進(jìn)入職場(chǎng)前，進(jìn)行一些準(zhǔn)備工作，通常叫作career preparation。學(xué)校的職業(yè)指導(dǎo)中心/career centre會(huì)給你很多相關(guān)的建議，例如如何準(zhǔn)備面試/how to prepare for an interview、如何與同事溝通/how to communicate with your colleagues、如何高效地工作/how to work efficiently等。

Expertise來自于我們很熟悉的一個(gè)單詞expert/專家。Expertise是指你在某一領(lǐng)域的專長。Develop expertise in 后面一定要加名詞，如果是動(dòng)詞的話，一定要記得加上ing變成動(dòng)名詞的形式。
expand one's knowledge 拓展知識(shí)
The best way to expand your knowledge is to read books in the library.
在這個(gè)短語里，我們除了可以使用expand之外，還可以使用increase。但是increase出現(xiàn)的頻率實(shí)在是太高了，所以想得高分的同學(xué)不妨使用expand，畢竟“物以稀為貴”嘛。

課外活動(dòng)叫做extracurricular activities。Extracurricular是一個(gè)形容詞，意思是“課外的”。我們也可以使用extra curriculum來進(jìn)行代替，兩個(gè)詞組表達(dá)的含義是一樣的。

在國外，成績除了叫作score以外，還可以叫作grade。Grade是一個(gè)多義詞，除了有年級(jí)的意思之外，還有成績的意思。所以大家一定要注意積累。

外國學(xué)生的學(xué)習(xí)方式多種多樣，不僅僅是在課堂上聽老師講課，還有其他的學(xué)習(xí)方式，例如拓展閱讀/reading extensively、野外觀察/having a field trip、觀看紀(jì)錄片/watching a documentary等。
pursue one's individual interest 追求個(gè)人興趣
There are many activities and clubs in our school;it gives us a great chance to pursue our individual interests.
在這個(gè)句子里，個(gè)人興趣可以說成individual interest，也可以說成personal interest。類似的詞組有：追求夢(mèng)想/pursue/chase one’s dream、完全實(shí)現(xiàn)自己的抱負(fù)/fulfill oneself等。
with the help of … 在......的幫助下
With the help of the career center,many students can find their ideal job after graduation.
我們有很多類似的短語，例如with the guidance of …/在某人的指引下，with the permission of …/在征得某人的許可后等。
