興趣，即強(qiáng)調(diào)對所報(bào)考的專業(yè)懷有極大的興趣(have significant interest in…)。如果本科就讀的專業(yè)與報(bào)考的專業(yè)一致，則可以說明想繼續(xù)深造(further education)的愿望。如果不一致，則要說明報(bào)考專業(yè)對你的吸引力 (…appeals to/attracts me a lot)。
優(yōu)勢，即強(qiáng)調(diào)研究生相對于本科生在知識、學(xué)術(shù)方面的優(yōu)勢，如：知識面更廣(wider knowledge)，學(xué)術(shù)更專業(yè)(more professional)，眼界更廣闊等(broaden one’s horizon)。
益處，即強(qiáng)調(diào)考研對你的未來的積極影響(have a positive effect on…)，可以從求職、職業(yè)規(guī)劃、人生經(jīng)歷等方面入手進(jìn)行說明。可參考的詞匯、短語如下：be helpful, contribute to, be beneficial to, be conductive to, be a definite advantage, become a strong point when it comes to… 等等。
對于那些在職考生或有工作經(jīng)驗(yàn)的考生來說，考官樂于知道他們?yōu)槭裁?放棄工作而)重新學(xué)習(xí)�？忌梢灾毖栽诠ぷ靼l(fā)現(xiàn)某些知識或技能很重要，希望能通過學(xué)習(xí)在這些方面進(jìn)行
提高 (In my work, I found … is rather important. I always believe that one will easily lag behind unlehe keeps on learning. So I choose to go back to school and improve myself。)。 然后，可以在自我介紹中展現(xiàn)自己對未來的規(guī)劃，其目的在于向老師們展示自己對時(shí)間、學(xué)習(xí)、人生有一定計(jì)劃性和掌控能力。參考回答：I plan to concentrate on study and research in this field in my graduate time. And I hope I can form a systematic view of ... and make a solid foundation for future profession after three years study here. After graduation. I would like to work as a .... I hope that in five years after graduation, I can....
最后，請務(wù)必表達(dá)出對來目標(biāo)院校就讀的強(qiáng)烈意愿。并給出一個(gè)明確的結(jié)束的信號。例如：I would be very honored if you could grant me the opportunity to study in this university. That’s all about my self introduction. Thank you!
